Seems as though it's her mother that's the problem. That would be the place to start.

You mean just talking to her?

Have you not already tried talking to her? Clearly that's not effective.

Maybe I should threaten her.

Something tells me you don't frighten her. No, something has to convince her that forcing her daughter to marry is a bad idea. Something like... if she thought Bertram was mistreating Sapphire, she would want to end the marriage.

Well I know he is, but how do I prove it? It's not like I can waltz into their house any day. I snuck into the masquerade party, but that was difficult in itself.

And why exactly can't she just walk out of the house and not come back?

She's pregnant.

Yeah. They married just before Christmas.

Well that's something rather different. If she leaves then she has to raise a child on her own. *sighs* It's really none of my business, you know; it's one thing to help her get out of her marriage as a favor, but I can't be involved in the life of someone I hardly know. Did you even ask her if she wants to divorce him anymore?

I can't see why she wouldn't. He's terrible.

But she's going to have his child. *shakes her head* I can't help you with this. I'm sorry. Mostly for her.
