AugustEveryone gets ready for the new term of Hogwarts. Thursday, August 31, 2017Ron takes Hugo to WWW and gives him a disappearing potion with which to prank Rose; Hugo accidentally destroys Rose's room, which Hermione fixes before getting angry at Ron. They quickly make up, however. Harry shows Alan Strathemore, his new employee, around the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Lily talks to Ginny about how she is upset about not going to Hogwarts; Ginny says she will try to get her in early. James is teasing Albus about Slytherin, prompting Lily's annoyed justification of the house and Albus's fear; Harry gets upset at James as well. James, practicing Quidditch, sends a Bludger through Harry's home office window, then gets caught trying to steal his invisibility cloak and gets in trouble. SeptemberThe Hogwarts term begins, with classes both fun and not, but danger lurks in the air as Hugo gets poisoned and the Hogwarts Express mysteriously stops. Sapphire Black, daughter of Sirius and Astronomy teacher, goes from rivalry to romance with Muggle Studies teacher Rafael Castleton. Professor Ashley Emerson, Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, saves the day with the train but intimidates the students in the classroom. Everyone discusses fears of war. Neville and Hannah are going to have a child. Hugo makes it out of the hospital, having missed his parents' fight over Hermione's cooking and his father's ruined dinner. Ron is acting irrational, largely due to his feelings of inferiority, and is too quick to believe Hugo and punish Rose. Harry is overprotective of his new sister. First-year Bradshaw Riddle is smitten with Victoire and Lily is scared of war. Both Lily and Lucy have nightmares about their older siblings. Friday, September 1, 2017Students meet and cousins re-meet as the Hogwarts Express takes off. Hugo finds a mysterious basket of muffins that poisons him; Ron takes him to St. Mungo's and contacts Hermione, who joins them. Harry and Alan investigate the mystery and find a necklace with the initials AE near the muffins. Neville (Herbology teacher) and Professor Sapphire Black, the new Astronomy teacher, talk in the Three Broomsticks before the start of the year. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley anxiously wait for news of Hugo and discuss their fears of danger. The Hogwarts Express unexpectedly stops, and Victoire and James meet Bradshaw Riddle while investigating; James suspects him. They notice that the train has not arrived and go to investigate; Ashley gets the train moving, Sapphire checks on the students in her Animagus dog form, and Rafe saves an owl. They return to the Great Hall. Back at St. Mungo's, Harry, Ron, and Hermione discuss their fears of an impending war and determination to save their children from such a fate. Neville receives a message from Hannah and rushes home to learn that she is pregnant and they will become parents. Rose and Scorpius have their first Defense Against the Dark Arts class and learn that Professor Emerson is very strict. OctoberEveryone has a crazy Halloween. Tuesday, October 31, 2017Invitations are being sent out for Slughorn's Halloween party. Ron and Hermione decide to go as Dumbledore and McGonagall, and he goes to work in costume. Andromeda gets an invitation and tell Teddy to go in her stead. Neville gets an invite and takes the day off work to surprise Hannah and take her to the party. At work, Ron finds out George pranked him by telling him to come in costume. James recruits Fred to help him with his Halloween prank by getting the somehow recovered potion book of the Half-blood prince. At Luna's place, Lorcan and Lysander goof off in their room. James sneaks into the Slytherin common room to recruit Albus for the prank. James and Fred meet Moaning Myrtle while brewing a potion in the bathroom, and then get caught by Rose and quickly leave. Hermione, Ron, and Hugo eat ice cream, and Ginny comes over for some costume advice. Victoire tutors Bradshaw in astronomy. Audrey helps Lucy get ready for trick-or-treating. Ashley runs into Rafe and Sapphire kissing in the hallway. Hermione notices her handbag is missing before Hugo is dropped off at the Burrow. Arthur and Molly take the kids trick-or-treating while the other adults all go to the party. At the feast, Albus, on James's instruction, releases a Snitch that sprays boils potion over people and causes a huge crisis. James leaves the Great Hall in shame. A notice is sent to the party and Harry, Ron, George, Bill, Fleur, and Percy go to the school; Ginny, Angelina, and Audrey go to pick up their kids, and Hermione goes to meet Hugo at home. Ron joins them after dealing with the prank situation. James gets suspended from Hogwarts and as he is being taken home, he is attacked by a dementor, which is fought off by Harry.

NovemberThe effects of the Halloween attack linger as people begin to fear again. James also deals with the aftermath of his prank. Sapphire is met with an unwelcome betrothal that does not sit well with Harry or Rafe, and also has to deal with her mother. There is an attack on Beauxbatons.
